Program Description: 

Summerbridge San Francisco, held at University High School, is a rigorous academic camp for highly motivated college-bound 6th to 8th graders in need of a tuition-free summer program. Classes are taught by experienced teachers along with high school and college students who are committed to the program. The five core courses taught in the morning are math, language arts, science (biology, physics, or chemistry), foreign language, and social studies. Afternoon classes consist of electives, such as art, dance, drama, sports, computers, music, health education, public speaking, and more. Homework is mandatory and will take about two hours per night. The program is run by the Breakthrough Collaborative.They accept 30–35 6th graders every year who must commit to three consecutive summers of six-week, full-time summer camps with mandatory daily attendance. They must commit to bi-weekly math and writing workshops, SSAT prep classes for 8th graders, and high school counseling and workshops for 8th graders and their families.2013 Summer Session:
Dates: June 18–July 31Ages: Grades 6–8Cost: FREESummerbridge runs School After School, an afterschool tutoring program for participants. Any student receiving below a B– in a class is required to attend tutoring.
