Program Description: 

SoMa's After-School Mentorship Program aims to provide more effective homework assistance, one-on-onetutoring, mentoring, and fun, educational activities for under-served students.The main focus of our mentorship program is tutoring and the completion of their homework.*Homework - Elementary School & Middle School - High SchoolThese activities will take place on a daily basis. It requires tutors to help the youth participants in completingtheir homework assignments from school.Some of the other academic linked activities that will take place on a daily basis include:*Science Math Technology and Engineering (STEM)- Elementary School & Middle School - High SchoolThis includes grade-based math activities ranging from academic math workbook sheets, math flashcardgames, etc. The activities will pertain to technology, nature, and innovation. They will include groupdiscussions about science-related topics and simple & safe experiments.*Creative Writing - Elementary School & Middle SchoolThis will include writing in their own personal notebooks/journals about free topics, current events, culturaltopics, and/or assigned topics from staff.*Spelling - Elementary School & Spelling Middle SchoolSpelling-based activities will include spelling bees, dictionary word games, syllable activities, etc. The intent isto focus on improving the spelling and grammatical understanding of grade-based vocabulary.*Literacy - Elementary School & Middle SchoolStudents will participate in literacy development activities, including silent sustained reading, reading aloud,and small group discussions based on what they have read. We will also take frequent trips to the library.*Computer Literacy- Elementary School & Middle SchoolYouth will have access to computer literacy games during free time. We will also conduct 5-weekprogramming that develops youth’s ability to navigate through a variety of computer programs, gain a basicknowledge of the general functions and prog
