Program Description:

Summer Zoo Camp is the perfect place for your animal-loving child. Campers in pre K to grade 5 can enjoy up to three weeks of Zoo Camp fun and learning.

ZOO CAMP PRE-K THROUGH 5TH GRADE Each week of Zoo Camp has fun and exciting themes to be explored by your children. We offer three courses on alternating weeks at each grade level, so children can spend a second or third week at Zoo Camp. Choose either Course A, Course B, Course C or take them all, in any order, for up to three full weeks of fun! Below are examples of some of the themes that your children will experience while at Zoo Camp. Zoo Campers will be grouped by the grade level they will be entering in Fall 2015.

Campers in grades 6 and 7 delve deeper into the science behind wildlife conservation during a two-week program ending in an overnight stay (Thursday night of the last week with camp ending at 10 am on the final Friday of the two-week program).

ZOO CAMP 6TH AND 7TH GRADE For the 6th and 7th grade classes we have a special two-week Conservation Camp. This exciting and innovative program includes 8 full camp days (9 a.m. - 4 p.m. with extended care available) and ends with a fun and educational overnight experience at the Zoo (on the 8th day, camp will begin at 4 p.m. on Thursday and end at 9 a.m. on Friday). Campers will learn about conservation here in our own backyard, as well as efforts happening around the world. They will practice some conservation strategies and have the opportunity to teach others what they’ve learned.

TEENS TOO! (AGES 14 -17) ZOO TEACHING ASSISTANTS PROGRAM You are never too old to enjoy Zoo Camp! Teens ages 14-17 interested in working with kids may volunteer in our special ZTA (Zoo Teaching Assistant) program. ZTAs have fun while gaining valuable work experience helping with Zoo Camp classes. For more information on the ZTA program call (415) 753-8123 or e-mail us at youth@sfzoo.org
