Program Description: 

ROOTS provides children of incarcerated parents with support and tools to question and interrupt the cycle of incarceration. Through expressive arts these children are provided with a safe space to share and process experiences, make healthy choices, and to understand their circumstances. These measures increase chances of succeeding at school socially and academically. The program helps increase self awareness and self image, and creates a caring community of youth all facing similar issues. In school electives and/or afterschool programming combines counseling and case management, leadership develppment, and caregiver support to build skills and engagement for each child.
