The mission of GirlVentures (formerly The Bay Area Girls Center) is to provide meaningful experiences for adolescent girls who are at risk of losing their self-esteem and self-confidence during a critical period in their lives.
Classes: They offer classes in rock climbing (Girlz Climb On), sea kayaking, high and low challenge courses, hiking and orienteering, service learning, Natural History/Place Based Ecology, overnight camping, outdoor cuisine, and backpacking. These programs serve to continue activities from the summer sleepaway camps. Juniors and seniors can participate in leadership classes, be assistant instructors, participate in internship programs, and get placement in outdoor programs such as Outward Bound West and the Yosemite National Institute. Fees range from $275–$475 per session plus registration fees. Scholarships are available.
