Program Description: 

 

Since 1970, CYC has been a key agency for Asian youth services in the City, offering services that address behavioral, health, education, intervention, leadership development, street outreach, and workforce development among youth ages 11 to 25. They offer summer camps and afterschool programs, see their website for full details. 

Afterschool: Job Readiness for English Language Learners Afterschool ProgramCYC offers FREE afterschool Media Arts Computer workshops for middle and high school students. Students learn desktop publishing, blogging, t-shirt design, video editing, website building, music recording, building computers, and more. The goals of the program are to provide youth ages 14 to 18 who are primarily immigrant English Language Learners with a workforce program that focuses on removing barriers to employment through a skills building curriculum and workplace experience. Program participants will receive job readiness training and career exploration workshops for 40 hours, and then are placed at a work site that matches their interests for 120 hours. ESL and VESL classes for English Language Learners will be offered during the program week, and transition planning and coaching is provided after the program has ended.
