The BGCSF Academic support and Academically-Linked Program includes homework help and subject specifictutoring, in additional to math and literacy enrichment. The program focuses on low income youth who needacademic support. Success will be measured through school attendance, grade progression, high schoolgraduation or GED obtainment, and technical skill development in the arts and multimedia. Life Skills Training at BGCSF includes modules of programming that cover career readiness through the CareerLaunch Program, Financial Literacy through interactive classes and a savings matching program, and workreadiness soft-skills training and career exploration events at the Club and in professional settings. Life SkillsTraining includes hands on nutrition and cooking classes, yoga, general fitness, sports (volleyball, basketball,swimming). Healthy sexuality and relationships are also covered including trips to visit local clinics or socialservices resources. Teens learn peer to peer relationship building through active and engaging "Teen Night"on Friday nights at the Club. Post-survey results at the completion of each program are used to measuresuccess in this area. Success is measured by changes in decision making, career preparedness, increasedconfidence in the areas of body image, professionalism, and peer-to-peer relationships. BGCSF provides educational guidance and post-secondary planning through individual and small groupcollege counseling sessions (college application completion support, financial aid, Scholarship Research) alongwith access to local and statewide college tours. Through our Formal Mentorship program, the needs andinterests of each teen are assessed and staff are able to provide necessary support with post-high schoolcareer exposure and planning. Teens develop short, mid and long range academic, personal and professionalgoals as well as receive recognition from staff and their peers. Programs utilize curriculum designed toprovide measurable skill development and to successfully transition teens into the next phase of their lives.
