Program Description: 

The theater class meets 5 days a week at Ida B. Wells High School. Students are introduced to movement,voice, speech, imagination, ensemble-building, and theater vocabulary, as well as technical aspects of theaterproduction guided by a member of A.C.T.'s production team, exposing youth to alternate career paths.Students write their own monologues and scenes, performing first their own and then other students' piecesto develop leadership and communication skills as well as empathy. At the end of each semester the classworks together to rehearse, prepare, and perform before an audience, with students involved in all aspects ofwriting, performing, marketing, and producing. Students also regularly attend workshops and professional performances at A.C.T.'s venues.
