Founded in 1999, the mission of Oasis For Girls is to partner with girls and young women of color from under-resourced communities in San Francisco to help them cultivate the skills, knowledge, and confidence to discover their dreams and build strong futures.Springboard SeriesOur Springboard Series for Girls is a program series that parovides girls with internal awareness and external skills. The Series provides girls with opportunities to create trusting relationships with positive, supportive adults, to develop a sense of identity and partnership within their group, and to build and practice key skills.RISE Life Skills ProgramA safe space to talk about and get information on cultures, identities, and emotional health needs of young women through reflective journaling and workshops on a series of topics including: anti-oppression, LGBT issues, history of women’s rights, body image, knowing your rights with police, healthy relationships, stress & depression, substance use, and community activism. Field trips include: historical tours of SF neighborhoods, yoga, self-defense, women’s clinic tour, and more! CREATE Arts Education Program Engages young women in finding their voice and building ocnfidence though self-expression in the arts. Anchored in creative wrting, the girls will explore poetry, memoir and fiction. Sessions will begin with a creative writing prompt that will extend to onf of the following art forms: collage, photo transfer, and performance. The poetry and art created throuhout the program will culminate in a professionally published bookl. Field trips include literary arts evetns, meeting mentoring artists, and higher education in the arts!ENVISION Career Exploration Program An opportunity to prepare for advance education and careers through technology training. Young women work in a computer lab to learn basic technology skills, discover their innate aptitudes and interests, explore new careers through job sute visits to local companies, and develop a life plan to chart a path to their dreams!
