The Golden Gate Railroad Museum (GGRM), a nonprofit organization dedicated to the preservation of steam and passenger railroad equipment, and the interpretation of railroad history in the San Francisco Bay Area.  They offer occasional train rides for visitors. Tickets are available at the location.  Check the website or call for touring dates.

Getting There: 
After having been at Hunters Point Shipyard for fifteen years, they lost their lease. Most of the collection has been moved to Niles Canyon; you can see this equipment by visiting the Pacific Locomotive Association in Sunol, California. See the website for a map with directions.
