
Formerly known as Florence Crittenton Services and Whitney Young Child Development Center (FCS-WYCDC), Family and Child Empowerment Services San Francisco (FACESSF) provides high-quality childcare and afterschool services to over 350 children from infancy through youth up to grade 6. The combined organizations also bring jobs and other family support services to the Bayview, Visitacion Valley, and Western Addition neighborhoods. Programs include child care and development services, youth empowerment programs, family support services, job training, and services for developmentally and physically-handicapped children. Parents are provided a resource library and on-going workshops to promote unity and family cohesiveness. FACESSF also manages a Family Child Care Network of 33 licensed child care provider homes in the City for children from low-income families.Afterschool:The FACESSF Afterschool program works with children from 5–12 years old. Services are provided before school from 7am–9am and afterschool from 1pm–6pm on a daily basis, including all day programming during school district breaks. Children participate in homework club and enrichment activities on a daily basis and are served nutritious breakfasts and snacks. Children are bused in from approximately ten elementary and middle schools and many of them have previously participated in our toddler and preschool programs, also on site.
