Kids' Nights Out

Need a night out? Do your kids? A great alternative to hiring a babysitter is dropping your kids off at a "kids' night out."  A fairly new phenomenon, it's a great opportunity for your kids to get a backstage night tour of their favorite organization. Click here to see a list of organizations offering kids'/parents' nights out.

Summer Lunch Program Summer Lunch

Every Monday through Friday, from June 23 through August 15, 2008, everyone ages 18 and younger can enjoy a healthy, hot lunch for FREE at any of 107 designated locations throughout San Francisco. Children and youth must arrive at the location during serving times. Not all sites are open all summer. Serving times vary by location. Click here for more information.

• Wednesday storytimes and lapsits at San Francisco Public Library Branches. FREE
• Tot Picasso Class at Eureka Valley Playground. $14 for 7 classes
 • Wednesday Night Drags at Infineon Raceway in Sonoma. An added bonus for high school students is the "Top the Cops" program. High school students get the chance to race against local law enforcement officers, who will be driving their squad cars!  $10 spectators.
• Family Skate Night at Yerba Buena Ice Skating Center at 7:30–9pm. $6.25–$8 admission, free skate rentals.

• Register for the Multicultural Arts School at Mission Cultural Center. Drama, art, dance, martial arts and more.  The three week program begins July 21. All day for $185.

• The Apple Tree at School of the Arts. The first Alumni musical! Performances run July 18-27. $16–$20

 A series of violence-free events to promote unity and empowerment in SF. Join a basketball tournament for youth and adults, performances, free food, services and resources and raffle prizes. Western Addition Housing Authority. For more information call: (415) 554-8960. FREE
• Young Eagles Program at Hiller Aviation Museum in San Carlos. Kids 8 to 17 fly free, 11am–1pm.
• Word Cup Vocabulary and Spelling Challenge. Trying out is free, and prizes are awarded. Tryouts continue until July 20. FREE
• Sun, Wind, & Water Day Festival at Randall Museum. Hands-on family-fun-day exploring the sun, wind, & water. FREE
• The Big Green Bus is coming to the Zoo! It is traveling 13,000 miles around the country through more than 35 states to teach about climate change and its relationship to energy issues, as well as alternative energy. Free after paid admission.
• Quest for the Best 5th Annual Youth Talent Show and Competiton for ages 10–21.

Sunday 7/20
• Jewels in the Square Presents Salsa on the Square. The live music will be accompanied by a dance class that will teach you the basic steps.  FREE
•  Dig Into Urban Farming at Alemany Farm. Volunteers to help with bedding and digging. FREE
